This book features a selection of politically-active, inspiring women who have made important contributions to music history.
Their stories begin in the mid-18th Century with Maria Anna “Nannerl” Mozart, a gifted German composer whose abilities were obscured by the popularity of her younger brother Wolfgang. They end in present with popular female figures like Joni Mitchell, an accomplished Canadian singer/songwriter, and Vanessa Mae, a non-traditional violinist from Singapore.

Heather Ball
Heather Ball is a professional writer and editor. She has written three other books in the Women’s Hall of Fame Series: Remarkable Women Writers, Magnificent Women in Music, and Great Women Leaders, which was named an American Library Association Amelia Bloomer Project Recommended Read for 2005. She is a graduate of the Humber School for Writers in Toronto, and in 2003 she was named Centennial College’s first-ever Writer of the Year. She lives and works in Toronto.
